There are often smaller ones made just for them when they start out, and some of them are powered by battery rather than by human steam so that they can get the hang of using one. The clay that comes with this type of pottery wheel might be a bit easier to use for a child’s small fingers as well. They may not be very good at it, but they are going to love getting their hands dirty and learning to do something they may think of is more of an adult activity.
